Let every tyrant and oppressor take heed

Gaddhafi’s defeat is yet another example of how tyrants will face humiliation in this life and the Hereafter
وَبَشِّرِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ
“And Give Glad Tidings To The Believers” [10:87]
The final end of Muammar Gaddhafi’s role in Libya is indeed good news for the Believers.
In Bukhari on the authority of Abu Musa the Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم said: "Verily, Allah Most High gives rope to the oppressor so that when He seizes him, he does not get away." The he صلى الله عليه وسلم recited:
"Such is the iron grip of your Lord when He seizes the cities which do wrong. His grip is painful, violent." [Hud, 11:102]
Allah سبحانه وتعالى gave Muammar Gaddafi a long life, 42 years of which he ruled the Muslims of Libya. But instead of spending his life in obedience to Allah سبحانه وتعالى and ruling by Islam, he chose to oppress, torture and terrorize his people. Allah سبحانه وتعالى gave rope to Gaddafi, extending his life so he would die a humiliating death at the hands of the Muslims.
This was a man who martyred thousands, persecuted tens of thousands and oppressed millions over a 42 year reign.
Some he oppressed because they opposed him. Some because they accounted him over his blatant violation of Islamic beliefs – most famously when he denied the Sunnah.
Gaddafi's death brings to an end a colonial experiment that lasted over 40 years. Since a young Gaddafi came to power in 1969 the British, so instrumental in his demise, have been the guardian angels for a man who for years divided political opinions. He was the champion of socialist Arab nationalism, a tyrant, and murderer of this own people. For many in the political elites of the Western world he was both friend and enemy, but always a slave to their colonial interests.
There will be much rejoicing at the news of his death amongst Libyans across the world, and who could blame them for his reign was built on pure brutality. Those who fought so bravely to defeat Gaddafi and lost so many lives along the way have every right to celebrate. However the celebration of the Western media and politicians should be viewed as nothing other than sensualist propaganda, the kind Gaddafi partook in during his 42 years in power.
It is hard to believe that the same politicians that welcomed Gaddafi back into the fold of the 'civilized' world not so long ago are now so overjoyed by his demise. However this is the way of Western politics something Saddam, Ben Ali, Mubarak and now Gaddafi have all found out. The Western policy towards the Muslim world has always been one of pursuing nothing but their interests, in the words of ex-Prime Minister Lord Palmerston: "We have no eternal allies, and we have no perpetual enemies. Our interests are eternal and perpetual, and those interests it is our duty to follow".
Whilst the people of Libya turned to NATO for help in desperation – having received no help from the neighboring Arab regimes – the role of NATO states in supporting Gaddhafi, as well as Mubarak, Ben Ali, Assad, Ali Abdallah Saleh of Yemen, Hammad bin Esa of Bahrain, the Al-Saud dynasty etc is well known, and proves their actions were in self interest and not for the humanitarian reasons they cite.
As the footage of Gaddhafi’s humiliating defeat spreads across the world, let every tyrant and oppressor take heed. Let them see their time is running out.
Let this Ummah realize that Allah SWT is helping her towards a new future and she should look forward to the justice of Islam bringing her security instead of the fear and hardship they have suffered before.
